Composting creates really important natural nutrients for the earth and its also a way to save

valuable space in landfills - plus that's just a huge waste of a great natural resource for helping grow

strong, healthy plants and vegetables.  Composting is such an important component of our garden

that we have a separate page of information on it.

Composting makes every day Earth Day

Also we have created a gardening tips page with lots of ideas to help you grow naturally.

Organic Thoughts:  WWOOF (willing workers on organic farms) is an international volunteer program.  There is a wwoof organization in an amazing assortment of countries.    Check out www.wwoof.ca It is a great way for people to learn about organic growing, to travel and live in another country.  On the host side there is a great opportunity to meet people from other countries, and have some well needed help with all that is involved in organic growing.  So the ‘woofer’ lives with a host family (room and board) in exchange for helping out.  One thing to keep in mind is that it is working on a farm (many beautiful aspects but also a lot of hard work).

There are so many volunteer opportunities as there is so much need out there.  Giving of your time, talents and, most importantly, attention is a gift that gives back more then you can ever anticipate.  Giving without expectation also yields unexpected gifts.  It can seem like a challenge to get involved but like anything that takes place in life it is a matter of what you find most important.  Watch for something that appears in your life as an opportunity.  It might be interesting to give it a try.  From international to locally, the opportunities are endless. Hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, food banks, schools, sports teams, scouts, guides, (all the amazing community groups that just try to make a difference), to CUSO, the Red Cross and so very much in-between.  Life is too short not to make it meaningful.  Enjoy!

All the best,

Kim

Organic Thoughts will now enjoy its own page - check here to see what Kim tackles this week!
