Treats for 2009

This year as always we look for what will be the best fit for you and our family.  With that in mind we are planning to provide even more options and flexibility.  We look forward to providing an opportunity for you to have fresh, nutritious, locally grown food.

FARMERS' MARKET

On Saturdays from May to October we will be offering a "Farmers' Market" onsite where we can have additional produce and vendors.  This will provide an option to pick and choose individual items and offer other local specialties such as asparagus, berries, sweetcorn cutflowers and more.  The market will be from 9am - 1pm.  I welcome feedback on what you would be most interested in as well as hours and set up.

CSA Vegetable Basket Program

We look forward to offering the CSA format on Wed.'s with the pickup time being the same as last year, from 3 - 8pm.  The price is staying the same as last year although we are not offering the biweekly option as that seems to be a challenge for customers to remember and for us to keep track of.  Sorry to those that have enjoyed the Sat. pickup option but hopefully the Wed. can work out and Thurs. morning is available if you can't make it Wed. afternoon.   The selection of veggies is nutritious and delicious, there are wonderful new varieties.  We will focus on what grows well and season extension.  So lots of snow peas, exotic radish, brown beans for drying, golden yellow beets, chinese cabbage, Chicory (Italian Dandelion), a gourmet eggplant called Fairy Tale (lavender and white), green stemmed Bok Choi and even radicchio and turnip.  My goal is to have excellent variety, increase the number of items available in the early baskets, increase the quantities for items such as carrots, spinach and peas.  We have over 27 different types of vegetables we will grow and about 160 different varieties  within that.  Such as tomatoes, we are growing 14 different varieties this year.   Please see the attached sign up form and again I welcome feedback to best suit your needs.

Garden Update May 6, 2008

For the first time on the Gardens site I proudly welcome the addition of Bliss Naturals - ONLINE!

Kim and Michaelle Brass have been blessed with being able to offer all natural skin care products that we hand craft.  Our business is called Bliss Naturals, www.blissnaturals.info  Our web site is in process but we are happy to take orders through there or I will have a selection of our products here for market/pickup days.  We make our products with the most simple, natural, healing ingredients that help your skin feel the bliss of taking care of yourself.  We of course do not use parabens, sulfates, fragrances (only 100% essential oils) or many of the other ingredients that are in so many of the available products.  Try out a little Bliss!
Wednesday Market Days:  Starting next week April 30th (3pm - 7pm) we will have greens (spinach, leaf lettuce, chickweed, swiss chard), herbs (parsley, lavender, chocolate mint, spearmint, lemon balm, fennel, lovage, cilantro, chives), available in bags or bunches.  I will take orders and/or you can just drop by.  I will send out a price list for next week.  We will also have local honey and eggs available.

Containers:  Please save any lettuce containers that you have.  I would love to use them for salad mix this year.  The bags are effective but I don't like using the plastic.  Clam shell containers are also great for smaller amounts of greens or herbs.

Flower Arrangements:  This year Logan and Kyra (our children) are going to be selling flower bouquets and arrangements.  If you have any flower containers that you would like to get rid of we would be happy to have them.

CSA:  We are about 1/3 full with Wed. filling up quickly.  If you know of others that might be interested please feel free to pass our information along.  I am hoping to plant some of the early crops in the field this week so we will have radish, peas, lettuce and lots of other greens for those early baskets.  I have a full listing of the 30 crops that we will be growing this year if you would like a copy.

Thank You for your interest in our growing adventure and local nutritious food.  Wishing you outrageous health, overflowing happiness and presence to appreciate the beautiful planet we live on.

Please check out Veggie ready to find out what's in store for this week's baskets!

Features Veggies : Lemon Balm - with extra recipes for a variety of Squahes

Organic Thought: "Abundance"

On a side note: something of interest was sent to me by our lovely garden Lady Kim:  I thought I would share online!

Just a reminder to please return the small green containers and any ziplock bags that are in good shape.  If you have any clam shells or larger plastic containers feel free to donate them to us or use them for your herbs/greens.

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for the gardens this year.
I look forward to hearing from you

Wishing you the very best,
Kim and Family
